Hello Henry (and all other players as well),

I have a couple of suggestions to improve overall server experience. These suggestions come from experiences on other servers, and things I think can be done better then they are now. All with the goal of making this great server even greater or even epic!

1) There currently is a (big) gap in strength of available monsters to kill on the server. Monsters like trolls/hell scorpions are about the highest you will find, before you get to the dragon hatchelings, which require quite a group of people to kill.
- Add monsters / animals to the server to fill up this big gap. It will also make it more attractive for pair of players, or teams up to 4, to go out for hunting. It's just a bit boring now if you are hunting alone, or with one or more people, cause most of the monsters are very easy fairly quick to do yourself. Do not try to close this gap by changing settings/nerfing. Add new animals / monsters like for example: Wyverns, wyvern hatchlings, panda bears, gorilla's, borgs, zombies, forest spiders, panthers, drakes, spirit trolls, etc, etc. Just a pick from server Requiem as example.

2) More different types of events - Kill (max) nr. of animals, treasure map event (higher drop rate of maps, and who solves the most maps), cooking utensils drops (certain animals drop random high ql cooking utensils), rare bone event (certain animals have a high(er) drop rate of rare bones), and maybe other people have other idea's as well, lump drops (1 at x drops a (rare) metal lump, random ql, with weight difference: silver 0,10, lead 1, bronze, 0,10, admantine 0,40, etc. And ask people to think about and suggest new events, and what the rewards could be.

3) Don't do auctions anymore on events like dragon (hatchling) killing or any other event, but be transparent, and all loot is divided over all people that helped/participated by draws. This goes for all items:  scales, treasure maps, (rare)items, etc, etc. This is a very important one for me, and maybe others as well. To explain myself: I feel a bit cheated by the way loot is handled right now. By putting stuff like treasure maps, corpses, and other interesting items in auctions, they will (nearly) always end up at the same people who have the money. And where does the money of that auction go? To what person?
If you choose for auction, then in the end the money that is raised via the action should be divided among the people that participated, minus the person that bought the item. That way you at least give every participant a part of what they all helped getting, to be available for auction.

But I would not even go for the auction option, but for dividing loot by draw.
Let me explain how draw could work:
a- You create a list of all the loot.
b- You create a list of the people that participated
c- Every participant will receive a random number (max numbers equals no. of participants)
d- Publish loot list, and people vs number. list, via Google Docs for example
e- Use (web-based) drawing tool to draw numbers.
f- When your number comes up, you may choose your reward.
g- fist go around the participants list, before a number will be called a second time.
h- repeat until all the loot has been divided.

You will have to do this right after the event, and will take about 15-20 mins.

The biggest advantage of this drawing system: New(er) players have the same chance as all experienced, high level, big bank, players to get items they really like and/or need. Participation in events with shared gathered loot most likely will attract more participant. Experience will be more positive.

I really hope you take the above in consideration for (partial) implementation, and see this as very positive feedback for the great server.

I have some events suggestions :
  • The Siege event:
A settlement (by default Rivia, but with the mayor approval, any other deed) has come under siege by an ennemy force. The siege have been detected, and the kingdom have created basic defences (npc guards ? ).
This will be a rift-like wave of attack event, centered on a deed.
The idea would be to create an experience closer to a siege than a rift (who is quite offensive XD ) by favourising the creation of siege equiment for defense, and other things like that.
People could for example gain points by building those defenses rather than fighting.
  • The Invasion event:
Much like the rift, an ennemy force is trying to invade the land. However, they are better organised and have already set up multiple bridgeheads by using dormant agents. The Rivieran Army can defent the settlements but not reppel the invaders.
Multiple (4? ) camps will spawn on the map on different locations.
If left alone long enough, they will create some more camps, untill they controll big portions of the map.
To repell the invasion, players will have to destroy the camps. In order for the event to be successfull, the invaders should be low/medium strenght like goblins or trolls, this way, everyone could participate by defending their region while powerfull mages or fighters destroy the camps.

Heya thanks for the lengthy feedback CatEyedDeamon and Elvandar!

Monster strength gap and new monsters:
This is definetly planned, i can't say exactly when it will come, but something similar to wyverns and smaller boss/raid creatures is in the works!

More Events:
This! I really just can't agree more. There's one more map-wide event that i'm currently working on, but we will need many more for the future just to have some diversion during the weekends and maybe even have smaller mid-week events.
Siege and Invasion events seem very script-heavy, but could definetly be considered in the future. I like both of those ideas, they have the feeling of a real campaign!
What i'm really looking forward to more are smaller, community organized events like small games, competitions or player-rallied unique hunts. The latter will become better when there's more monsters to hunt, but should already be a consideration.

I really like the ideas of treasure hunt events, killing frenzy and moon metal drops (these are very very rare right now)

Unique Loot distribution:
We tested the raffle today with the uniques, i'd say it was a perfect choice :)
I already made it so unique loot will be distributed between all attackers automatically, with the exception of corpse and the treasure map that spawns inside. These are planned to be automatically raffled with the rest of the items as well at some point, so there isn't the need of manual raffles.
This should help with private unique hunts as well.

Thanks both of you and everyone who messaged me by PM so far for all the feedback!

Another set of idea :
  • Find a way to be able to craft kingdom themed items (banners, towers, ...) would be a fun way to
  • Endorse community projects like highways, or maybe towns at key points, like the altars.
  • Find a way to heat up the southern heatmap :)

Thanks for more input :D

1) There was a suggestion some days ago that these would make for good items for a donation store, i'm just not sure still if i will add a "store" any time soon. But i might make a post regarding that eventually^^
2) I'm not a fan of things like "Receive x money for every y tiles or towers built", but if you have a specific idea in mind let me know
3) There's a background logic in the game that makes mobs automatically clutter towards the north part of the world, i don't know an "easy" way to fix it other than encouraging players to slay everything in the north until it moves down :D

I was thinking more of a protection against decay, like an NPC deed

There will eventually be more NPC deeds, but not likely player built ones.
Protecting highways can work, if they're connected by waystones they could be further GM protected

Some midnight brainfarts from me. XD Fun events that do not disturb gameplay balance;

Archeology event. Have (certain) mobs drop shards from the archeology skill. Fun way to put that skill on the map and maybe get a pretty and unique statue to spice up the deed, and it does not overpower or wealth-spam anyone.

Colourful/Holi event, have (certain) mobs drop small units of dye in all sorts of colours. No way you can paint a ship with it but people might get enough to paint their armor and maybe a weapon or shield.

Jaaaaay! I'm happy you do! :D

Other brainfarts that can be used as solo events or in combination with an XP and/or kill event:
  • Halloween themed festival: QL 99 Spiced Cookie and Pumpkin Pie (are real recipes)  drops every X kills, (great way to stock up on some nice food, especially when you're not living close to the julboard without overpowering players) All those who joined in are rewarded with an everburning Pumpkin Lantern that does not decay (and maybe has an unusual light colour?)
  • Christmas themed festival: QL 99 Ginger Cookie and Christmas Cake (are real recipes) drops every X kills. All those who joined in are rewarded with an everburning Snowball Lantern that does not decay (and maybe has an unusual light colour?) Maybe in combination with an extra game/battle that allows you to win a Yule Reindeer/Snowman Statue and Soft Cap (xmas hat) for the 2nd and 3rd place.
  • Valentine themed festival: QL 99 Candied Rose Petals and Chocolate Covered Rose Petals (are real recipes) drops every X kills. All those who joined in are rewarded with a Valentines (flower bouquet). Mobs drop 'Valentine Cards' (GM renamed paper sheets) that people can collect and at the end of the event mail to you in a backpag/satchel. The one who got the most Valentine Cards wins an additional prize.
